We all spend a lot of time working, and these days even from home, which has become our new office. However, it happens so often that while I’m working on designing a new website or some other tasks that keep me focused on what I do, I miss on other essential duties of my daily routine.
One example is: The cleaner comes over, starts cleaning the house, finishes, and who does remember when they started? How much do I owe them for the shift?
I’ve created this Apple iOS Shortcut for the necessity of logging the duration and finance of jobs on my calendar. Now, I don’t need to keep track or count anything. I just tap on the icon when the cleaner starts cleaning and tap again when they finish. This amazing free Apple iOS Shortcut automatically calculates the duration between the two taps and the amount of money.

Configure the Apple iOS Shortcut
- Time: 20 seconds
- Difficulty: Very easy
Once you’ve downloaded this iPhone shortcut, you will have to configure it. Follow the instructions on your phone’s screen to set up:
- Choose your calendar: The event will go there
- Job name: It will be the name of the event on your calendar
- Choose your currency: All currencies allowed
- Choose the hourly pay rate
That’s it!
Tap to start the job
Starting the job is extremely easy! Just tap on the shortcut icon and the shortcut will create the event on your calendar.
Tips
- Change the name of the shortcut and add it to your home as an icon or widget.
- Run the shortcut hands-free with Siri!
Tap to finish the job
Don’t forget to finish the job once you’re done! Just click on the shortcut icon again and you will have two options: ‘Finish’ or ‘Cancel’ the job. Tap on ‘Finish’ to see the payment based on the duration of the shift. You can also check your calendar to find the event with the duration and payment information in the notes.
Tap to Cancel the job
If you need to cancel the job, just click on the shortcut icon and select ‘Cancel’ to stop the shortcut and delete the event from your calendar.

Learn how to disable the shortcut restriction
The Shortcuts app has a block on any shortcut you download from the web for privacy reasons but you can disable this restriction. The toggle to enable Untrusted Shortcuts in the Settings app only appears when you use a shortcut.
Use one of the shortcut from the library for the first time
When the popup appears, tap “Ok”
Open the Settings app, navigate to the “Shortcuts” section
Toggle-On the “Allow Untrusted Shortcuts” option
Tap “Allow" and type your device passcode to confirm
